Barbara J. Ross Award Winning Screen Writer |  Novelist | Story Development

Barbara Ross writes about strong women because strength is at the core of how she builds story, character, and conflict.

As a screenwriter and novelist specializing in action and thriller genres, placing  women at the center of high stakes narratives where intelligence, resilience, and agency drive the plot. Her protagonists aren’t defined by reaction or survival alone. They make decisions, take risks, and move the story forward with purpose.

Her work weaves intricate suspense and mystery into high octane adventure, creating worlds where female characters are tested by history, power, and consequence. What sets her storytelling apart is her ability to integrate real historical events into modern narratives, grounding her stories in authenticity while allowing her characters to navigate contemporary danger with depth and authority.

Barbara’s women are complex, strategic, and formidable, shaped by the past but not confined by it. Through action driven storytelling and layered narrative design, she consistently redefines what strength looks like on the page and on screen.

Barbara recently placed in the finals with her high concept screenplay, The Cleopatra Project, at the Catalina Film Festival, which is currently in development by Midwest Talent Agency.

Barbara's literary achievements continue with her latest spy thriller Novel, Pythos, represented by Judith A. Moose at Midwest Literary and Talent, marking her growing prominence in the literary landscape.

Barbara earned the Best Writer and People's Choice Awards for her work "#WHATNEXT" at the Austin Film Festival, a project brought to life by Bash Productions and starring Marietta Melrose.

Her talent was further recognized at The International Writers Seminar, where her compelling screenplay "Miss Millennial" garnered prestigious awards. This script expertly unmasked the glitzy facade of social media, showcasing her ability to subvert expectations with unexpected narrative twists.
